FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: infusible electrode is set at the center of butt between different-thickness elements. Current is fed via contact electrode with its contacts transferred timed to torch. In welding, current connection to article is varied, periodically and many times, at least in two points by deflecting arc by its magnetic field. Two contacts of contact electrode located in one plane crossing both current feed points and infusible electrode axes perpendicular to butt axis are used. Distance from every said contact to electrode axis is equal and does not exceed 50 mm. Welding conditions are selected to ensure through penetration of thin element and thick element penetration to depth equal to thin element thickness.
EFFECT: heat control, higher quality, lower costs.
