FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; processes of direct production of iron and ferro-nickel.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes loading the nickel-containing iron ore material into metallization furnace; metallization by means of hot reducing gases at temperature of 1100-1400°C obtained in furnace-gasifier with liquid molten bath at gasifying of coal and carbon-containing materials at additionally obtaining metal semiproducts in gasifier which are diluted by cold gas escaping from metallization furnace followed by melting of metallized charge in melting unit and separation of ferro-nickel and slag in settler. Metallization is carried out by hot reducing gases diluted in such way that oxygen potential of gases at temperature of 1100°C should be no less than -345501 J/moleO2 and no more than -248402 J/O2; melting of reduced concentrate is performed in melting unit due to injection of gas-heat transfer agent into ferro-alloy layer at temperature above 1700°C and oxygen potential at this temperature no less than -237164 J/moleO2 and no more than -216547 J/O2.
EFFECT: possibility of obtaining alloy containing more than 70% of nickel; low cost of melting process; reduced power requirements; reduced consumption of solid fuel.
