FIELD: metallurgy; methods of cleaning bismuth.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes selective chlorination of mixtures in the course of electric refining of metallic bismuth in hydrochloric acid solution and removal of chlorine-containing compounds from bismuth melt in the course of fusion of cathode bismuth in hydrogen chloride atmosphere at 350-400°C. Bismuth melt is additionally subjected to pyrometallurgical treatment at bubbling of melt with inert gas at reduced pressure and temperature of 600-700°C.
EFFECT: extensive cleaning of bismuth from admixtures, from lead in particular.
