FIELD: processing of low-standard feedstock by chlorination for producing high-standard gold for jewelry and electrical industries, and stomatology. SUBSTANCE: method involves melting feedstock in presence of flux and bubbling gaseous chlorine through the resulting melt in the amount of 0-. 30-0.73 kg per 1 kg of the sum of impurities in the feedstock with a yield of slag at least 0.32 kg per 1 kg of refined gold, and maintaining the copper content in slag not below 7.5% EFFECT: fuller utilization of chlorine due to its absorption by slag. 1 tbl
