FIELD: petrochemical processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for removing hydrocarbons in carbon dioxide removal system in ethylene oxide production process. Method involves molecular oxygen-mediated oxidation of ethylene. Resulting reaction gas is washed with potassium carbonate solution to give absorption solution enriched with bicarbonate and including dissolved ethylene. The latter is separated from absorption solution in two steps of flash vaporization. In first step, flash vaporization of absorption liquid is followed by separation of vapor, containing major part of ethylene, from bicarbonate containing liquid. Then, flash vaporization of the first-step liquid is followed by separation of ethylene containing vapor from liquid phase.
EFFECT: reduced ejection of hydrocarbons into atmosphere and reduced expenses of carbon dioxide removal system and power consumption in regeneration compressor.
