FIELD: chemical technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing a novel salt of dodecahydro-closo-dodecaboric acid, namely, to urotropin dodecahydro-closo-dodecaborate that shows high caloricity and combustibility. Method is based on interaction urotropin in aqueous solution and compounds forming ions of dodecahydro-closo-dodecaboric acid in solution and taken in the mole ratio urotropin to dodecahydro-close-dodecaboric acid = 2:1. As a source of these compounds method involves using dodecahydro-closo-dodecaboric acid or mixture of compounds forming ions of this acid in solution, for example, alkaline or alkaline-earth element dodecahydro-closo-dodecaborates as sources of dodecahydro-closo-dodecaborate anion and acid chosen from the following order: hydrochloric, nitric, acetic, sulfuric, phosphoric, hydrofluoric acid as sources of H+ cations and provides preparing the compound possessing the high caloricity and combustibility simultaneously. Invention can be used in igniting and pyrotechnic compositions.
