FIELD: technical acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: device can be used for measurement of acoustic efficiency of silencers at development and operational development. Space of silenced chamber, having sound source mounted inside, is separated by partition to two spaces. Wall of chamber disposed in opposition to face side of sound source is made with through hole, closed by strap having hole for input tube of silencer. Distance from wall of chamber to partitions chosen from ration of λ≤15xC0/NxZ, where λ is distance in meters, C0 is velocity of sound in air, m/s; N is maximal number of turns of crankshaft of engine per minute; Z is number of cylinders in engines.
EFFECT: improved efficiency of operation; high precision of estimation of acoustic efficiency.
