SUBSTANCE: rectifier diode disposed inside lamp base is electrically connected to current-carrying lamp filament electrode-holder and to base central electrode. Cooling ports provided in metal sleeve of base between pasted glass bulb and insulating compound of base or in base insulating compound, or else both in base sleeve and in insulating compound afford diode protection against overheat-caused breakdown by means of air circulating between inner space of base and surrounding atmosphere.
EFFECT: simplified design of lamp incorporating diode built in its base.
