FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves determining number, size and morphological features of fractured bone fragments produced as a result of gunshot cranial flat bones fracture caused by Makarov pistol bullet of 5.9 g at a distance of 6 to 300 m. Large splinter of external plate with adjacent spongious layer being shot off with 4-6 rotated and separated large splitters of the internal compact plate having adjacent spongious layer being available, bullet speed is estimated to be equal to 120-150 m/s. External compact splinter being shot off with two middle-sized parts and comminuted spongious layer and 4-8 rotated and separated large splitters of the internal compact plate being available, bullet speed is estimated to be equal to 175-250 m/s. Comminuted flat bone layers being shot off with rotated and separated middle-sized splitters of the internal compact plate being available, bullet speed is estimated to be equal to 275-305 m/s. Splinters are considered to be large, if their size is greater than bullet diameter; middle-sized, if their size is equal to bullet diameter.
EFFECT: high accuracy in determining bullet speed and shot distance; no additional equipment needed.
