FIELD: electrical engineering; unipolar overhung brushless electrical machine manufacture.
SUBSTANCE: proposed unipolar overhung brushless generator that incorporates provision for mechanical control and visual observation of air gap and has fixed split circular armature core with slots to receive armature winding, overhung rotating inductor exciting cores, and fan is characterized in that its field circuit incorporates radial and circular electromagnets; like poles of the latter and overhung magnetic cores of both inductors are facing through air gap magnetic cores carrying armature winding which provides for constant residual magnetism in overhung cores of both inductors thereby contributing to generator excitation; field circuit is provided with two brush-contact assemblies incorporating current-collecting brushes and nonsplit slip rings. This generator can be used for power generation at electric and hydroelectric power stations, long-distance dc heavy-power transmission lines of high economic efficiency, dispensing with voltage step-up substations and high-cost ac-to-dc converters. Generators used for long-distance power transmission lines are connected in series to the latter. This machine can be used in industry both as generator and as motor in electrified transport, wind-electric power installations, electric welding, electrolysis, as power supplies for computer hardware and computers, storage battery chargers, stand-by power supplies for automation and lighting systems.
EFFECT: enhanced power output and cooling efficiency, enlarged functional capabilities and service life.
