FIELD: agricultural engineering, in particular, cattle farming, more particular, equipment for retaining of calf's head and body during zoo veterinary practices.

SUBSTANCE: calf retaining apparatus has carcass, side walls and animal's body retainer equipped with lifting belts. Carcass consists of vertical rear and front poles. Doors mounted on poles are equipped with animal's head retainer made in the form of platform having shape simulating animal's head profile and fixed on end of front door, said retainer being equipped with lateral hooks symmetrically arranged with respect to one another. Hooks enable animal's head to be retained by means of capron cord having diameter of 6-10 mm. Lifting belts are secured on two parallel tubes connecting upper parts of rear and front poles. One of said tubes is rigidly connected to poles and other tube is equipped with bushings rigidly fixed to poles. One of said bushings is of through type and provides removal and rotation of tube around its axis for winding lifting belts. Tube and through bushing are communicating with one another via openings arranged in mutually perpendicular planes of retaining apparatus.

EFFECT: enhanced reliability in operation of apparatus and reduced traumatic injury to animals.
