FIELD: metallurgy; production of carbon-free iron from charge containing iron oxide and silicon oxide.
SUBSTANCE: first portion of charge is molten on backing made from carbon-free iron and primary slag is obtained from which iron and silicon are reduced, thus obtaining ferro-silicium and secondary slag; then, secondary slag with added aluminum oxide is poured off and next portion of charge is fed to obtained ferro-silicium and next portion of charge is fed and is molten into primary slag; content of iron in this portion of charge corresponds to amount of silicon in ferro-silicium; silicon from next portion of slag is used for reduction of iron from its oxides, thus adding silicon oxide to primary slag and freeing it from iron oxides; carbon-free iron reduced from portions of charge is poured out of melting unit; silicon obtained from oxide added to primary slag is reduced by aluminum and is molten with backing; secondary slag with aluminum oxide added to it is poured off and operations pertaining to processing of next portions of charge are repeated. Thus, one melting unit may be used for production of carbon-free iron for obtaining nickel-free stainless production; process is performed without separation of gas from melt.
EFFECT: low cost of gas-evacuating and gas-cleaning equipment.
