FIELD: spark plug manufacture and connection of its electrode to noble metals.

SUBSTANCE: novelty is that spark-plug electrode is connected to noble metal by local heating of both of them at point of their connection by means of continuous-wave laser beam; noble metal melts partially and only at point of connection. Continuous-wave laser used for the purpose may be yttrium-aluminum garnet laser doped with neodymium (Nd:YAG-laser), carbon dioxide laser (CO2 laser), or diode laser. Noble metal may be applied to both central electrode and side one.

EFFECT: enhanced service life of spark-plug electrode.
