FIELD: no-break power supplies for computer engineering, communication facilities, and the like.
SUBSTANCE: proposed inverter designed for DC-to-AC power conversion incorporating provision for overcurrent protection of its input to prevent premature failure of storage batteries and capacitors due to heavy starting currents has storage capacitor connected in parallel with electronic DC voltage conversion circuit. Current limiter is provided to protect inverter against in-rush currents during turn-on of power supply for capacitor charging. When voltage across capacitor equals desired value, relay operates and shorts out current limiter. Malfunction protective gear is also incorporated. Design alternate incorporating provision for optimizing start time considering battery condition is also proposed. It has memory device that stores battery voltage before starting capacitor charge and placing electronic circuit in operation; stored voltage functions as parameter governing converter circuit start-of-operation delay time. Provision is made for capacitor discharge upon completion of operation through limited discharge current circuit.
EFFECT: reduced time of charging capacitor up to start voltage.
