FIELD: water electrolysis device and method for determining content of stable isotopes in water.
SUBSTANCE: water electrolysis device performing mass-spectrometry of content of stable isotopes of hydrogen or oxygen includes proton-exchange membrane made of fluorocarbon polymer coated with platinum layer applied by non-plating process, iridium, rhodium or iridium-rhodium alloy; cathode and anode made of porous titanium coated with platinum layer. Proton-exchange membrane is arranged between cathode and anode where water is subjected to electrolysis. Water is introduced to chamber at anode side and direct current is supplied between anode and cathode while oxygen gas generated on anode and hydrogen gas generated on cathode are fed respectively to mass-spectrometer for determining relation of isotopes. Invention provides easy simple analysis method of 17O.
EFFECT: easy safety analysis for very short time interval.
