SUBSTANCE: entry points are controlled so that it could be easily understood by user. Reception unit receives a stream, which contains coded digital data. Analysis unit recognizes changes in stream indicators, which is received by reception unit, and gives out the recognized information. Control unit performs collection of recognized information, which is given out by analysis unit, and temporary information, which corresponds to time, when indicator change was recognized, as first entry point, and forms control information containing these first entry points. Disk drive writes control information generated by control unit and stream received by reception unit to the information-carrying medium, optical disk, for example. Input unit allows users to input and define second entry points in stream playback trace to provide the capability of accessing and playing back the stream from a desired point. Control unit forms control information in such a way that first entry points and second entry points can be identified separately from each other.
