FISH-PROTECTIVE HEAD Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC E02B8/08 

FIELD: hydraulic building, particularly fish-protective devices included in water intake structures adapted to protect young fish from passage in water intake structures.

SUBSTANCE: fish-protective head comprises inlet pipe with fairwater provided with blades and coaxially installed on the pipe so that the fairwater may rotate about the pipe. Inlet pipe is oriented in vertical direction. The fairwater is made as cylindrical cup with bottom facing upwards and is spaced from the pipe so that sucking gap is created in-between. Fairwater blades fastened to inner fairwater surface are located in the sucking gap. Outer fairwater surface has turbulizing members, which create local turbulent zones when water flows around fairwater. Toroidal vessel is connected to outer surface of inlet pipe under the fairwater. The vessel is provided with orifices distributed along a circle and is communicated with pressure pipeline.

EFFECT: provision of effective hydraulic conditions, which assist in young fish diversion from water intake head.
