FIELD: induction heating processes, possibly restoration of working capacity of large-size nitrided crankshafts with journals scratched at operation.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of removing nitrided layer from shaft journal and subjecting journal to doubled quenching by means of induction surface heating with use of protecting devices and to normalized cold-hardening. Invention provides restoration of bending strength of shaft along fillets of damaged journal and beating of shaft axis no more than 0.05 mm.
EFFECT: restoration of hardness of damaged journal, elimination of cracking in edges of lubrication holes and on journal.
