FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: on bottom of ladle refractory insert is mounted symmetrically relative to casting nozzles close to lateral wall of ladle. Said refractory insert has bottom and lateral walls. Distance m between lateral walls of insert in its contact zone with lateral wall of ladle consists of (0.15 - 0.4)D, length l of lateral walls of insert consists of (0.2 - 0.4)D where D - diameter of ladle bottom in working cavity of ladle. Height of lateral walls of insert consists of 0.05 - 0.09 of height of working cavity of ladle. Bottom of insert is inclined by angle α equal to 2 - 10° relative to bottom of ladle towards its center. Lateral walls of insert are inclined by angle β equal to 5 - 15° relative to diametrical plane of ladle.
EFFECT: elimination of washing away of charge in ducts of nozzles, prevention of melt steel penetration into them at starting metal casting by feeding metal to ladle.
