FIELD: processes for deposition of wear resistant coatings onto cutting tools, possibly in metal working industry branches.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of depositing multi-layer coating onto working faces of tool by vacuum-plasma process. Layers of coating are deposited with use of three cathodes arranged horizontally in the same plane while using two placed mutually opposite cathodes of titanium and one composite cathode of alloy of titanium and silicon arranged between them. Lower layer of titanium nitride is deposited at temperature 620°C ±10°C; upper layer of nitride of titanium and silicon is deposited at temperature 550°C ± 10°C.
EFFECT: improved working capacity of tool, enhanced quality of working by such tool.
