FIELD: application of wear-resistant coatings onto cutting tools, possibly in metal working industry branches.
SUBSTANCE: method is realized by vacuum-plasma deposition of double-layer coating. Method comprises steps of applying lower layer at nitrogen pressure 8 x 10-4 Pa in chamber of installation; using nitride of titanium and zirconium or nitride of titanium and iron or nitride of titanium and silicon for depositing lower layer; using the same nitride alloyed with aluminum for depositing upper layer at nitrogen pressure 4 x 10-3Pa in chamber of installation. In concrete variants of invention lower layer with thickness consisting of 25 - 30% of the whole thickness of coating is deposited while the whole thickness of coating is in range 3 - 9 micrometers.
EFFECT: enhanced working capacity of tool, improved quality of working by such tool due to its increased wear resistance and cracking resistance.
