FIELD: nuclear engineering; nuclear-reactor fuel element mechanical design.
SUBSTANCE: proposed plug tail is divided into surface for welding current supply and surface for welding force application; these surfaces are disposed at obtuse angle to one another; surface for welding current supply is parallel to plug axis; it is disposed between section being welded-in and surface for applying welding force, its diameter being not smaller than that of plug section being welded-in. Surface for welding current supply may be provided with drilling.
EFFECT: reduced hydraulic resistance of plug to reactor coolant flow, facilitated insertion of plug into fuel assembly magazine, enhanced welding quality.
