SELF-DEFENSE WEAPON Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC F41C3/00 

FIELD: hand fire arms shooting by low-momentum cartridges, whose cartridge case at a shot serves as a cartridge chamber and a barrel, designed for use by citizens as a means of protection against an attack.

SUBSTANCE: the weapon has a body, magazine with a spring-loaded feeder and an actuating mechanism. For provision of automatic feed of cartridges to the line of fire and removal of empty cases outside of the weapon the cartridges are made with a groove in the cartridge case, the body is provided with a butt plate, an opening is made in the front wall of the magazine for escape of the bullet from the upper cartridge, front and rear lugs are made in the magazine neck, they project to the magazine bore up to the stop of the neck and the cartridge case flange of the upper cartridge taking the initial position. The lugs have a similar width lower than the width of the cylindrical part of the cartridge case groove, the projection to the magazine bore of the rear lugs does not exceed the depth of the groove in the cartridge case. A clearance of not less than the case flange height is made between the rear lugs and the butt plate mirror, and the upper cartridge has an opportunity to shift backward from the initial position up to the stop at the butt plate mirror. The weapon can also use cartridges with a rim on the cartridge case both for electric and percussion principle of cap priming. A shot can be performed both in the initial and backward shifted position of the upper cartridge. The weapon may be provided with a barrel or a bullet guide, obturator, mechanism for locking-unlocking the cartridge feeder, device for monitoring the level of charging of the current supply source in the form of a dummy cartridge with a transparent cartridge case, cover of the magazine neck.

EFFECT: minimized overall dimensions of the weapon at a use of cartridges of a larger caliber, expanded functional and operating potentialities.
