HAND-HELD DRILL Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A01C7/02 

FIELD: agricultural engineering, in particular, hand-held technique for sowing of seeds into soil.

SUBSTANCE: hand-held drill has sides and carrier wheels mounted on shaft externally of sides and equipped with ground-engaging members. Hoppers, shanks and seeding drums with seed gripping cells are located within spaces between sides. Seeding drums with seed gripping cells are positioned on single shaft in conjunction with carrier wheels. Hoppers are positioned laterally of seeding drums and adjoin to their cylindrical surface, and their bottom is inclined at an angle of 30-40 deg toward cylindrical surface of drums. Shanks are positioned forward of drums and consist of two parts - lower part of V-shaped section adapted for cutting of furrow and spilling of seeds, and upper part of W-shaped section adapted for receiving and guiding of seeds, said second part being equipped with openings for receiving of mounting pin. Drill is additionally provided with covering members located rearward of hoppers and made in the form of vertical cylindrical rod and plate-shaped knife rigidly connected to rod, and covering wheels. Covering members are fixed on pin by means of holder so that gap between knives and angle of rotation relative to horizontal pin of holder may be adjusted. Cylindrical rod is positioned within holder for rotation of knives relative to its vertical axis and adjustment of knife depth. Seeding drums are made in the form of pipe flanged at its ends. Upper part of shanks is fixed on additional pin through stop ring by means of screw. Additional pin of shanks, covering wheel pin and covering member pins define, in conjunction with sides, drill frame.

EFFECT: increased efficiency owing to uniform distribution of seeds during sowing procedure.
