FIELD: mechanical engineering; drum-type brakes.
SUBSTANCE: proposed drum-type brake has shield, brake blocks with friction linings, hold-down device and elastic return device which moves the brake block away from the drum after applying the brake; brake block moves at sliding in radial direction between two guide walls secured on shield. Hold-down device is made in form of lever articulated to shield. Reaction force Fr arising at braking is applied to hold-down lever and braking force Fbr is applied to brake block in such way that braking force Fbr and reaction force Fr act at two different points of brake. Brake block for drum-type block brake has rigid base for friction lining whose external ends form support for circumferential rest of brake block against guide walls; it moves over them at radial sliding. Located on outer surface of rigid base is friction lining which is secured to base.
EFFECT: facilitated procedure of replacement of brake blocks; enhanced stability of braking torque.
