METHOD FOR PERFORMING SUBTOTAL VITRECTOMY Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A61F9/07

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves doing three penetrating pierces in sclera 4 mm far from the limb. Light guide, vitreotome tip and infusion cannula are introduced through them. After having removed basic volume of the vitreous body into the vitreous cavity, 0.25-1 ml of corticosteroid suspension is introduced into the vitreous cavity and all of it is practically completely removed by suction. Suspension particles are retained with cortical vitreous body contrasting it in this way. Cannula of 0.51-0.29 mm diameter is introduced into the vitreous cavity 1-7 mm far from retina surface in perpendicular to it. Physiologic saline is supplied under pressure of 20-200 mm of mercury column through the cannula towards the retina. After having increased contrasted residues of the vitreous body, cannula is introduced as a result of infiltration into the formed cavity between retina and vitreous body keeping on supplying the physiologic saline. Fluid flow is directed in parallel to retina.

EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness in separating contrasted vitreous body from retina surface; reduced risk of traumatic complications.
