FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention is designed for sealing rotating shafts of machines. Proposed magnetic fluid seal of shaft contains housing, ring magnetic system with pole attachments, channels in shaft for filling seal with magnetic fluid. Pole attachments are provided with more than one pole teeth. Each pair of teeth has one filling channel and their outlets into tooth space are displaced from line on minimum strength of magnetic field on shaft surface to one side. Channels in inlet of shaft are provided with dummy plugs. Seal is furnished also with device for axially shifting magnetic system. Invention makes it possible to introduce required amount of magnetic fluid under each tooth of pole and provide higher holding capacity of seal, possibility of filling and replenishment of seal, when required.
EFFECT: simplified operation of seal.
