FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: claimed method includes dissolving of isomer mixture in low boiling solvent wherein both isomers have high solubility at any temperature. High boiling solvent wherein 4,4'-isomer has have low solubility both at room temperature and at solvent boiling point, and 2,4'-isomer has high solubility at boiling point and low one at room temperature is added to obtained mixture. After distilling of low boiling solvent 4,4'-isomer forms suspension in high boiling solvent which is separated by hot filtration. Filtrate is cooled and 2,4'-isomer is isolated from suspension at room temperature. Obtained compounds have purity of 95-97 % and are useful in synthesis of high molecular substances, photoconductors, etc.
