FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed axle box with cylindrical roller bearings installed on axle box neck 2 of axle 1 has housing 6, pressure cover 7, axle support 8 and heel with spring-loaded stop in axle box neck of axle, and step bearing 15 between axle support and heel 11 in axle box neck of axle. Solids of revolution 16 are arranged in cage 17 made in form of spherical sector and they are in contact with conical surfaces 9, 10 of axle support and surface of step bearing. Cage is provided with stops 18, 19 whose end face surfaces engage with end face surface of axle support and surface of step bearing.
EFFECT: improved friction characteristics of axle support, increased service life of bearings with cylindrical rollers and axle box unit at a whole.
