FIELD: mechanical engineering; methods of production of the multilayer coatings for the cutting tools.

SUBSTANCE: the invention is pertaining to the method of deposition of the wear-resistant coatings on the cutting tools and may be used in the metal working-. The presented method provides for the vacuum-plasma deposition -of the multilayer coating. The base layer is deposited from nitride or carbonitride- of the titanium, silicon and iron compounds at their ratio (in mass %): the titanium - 96.8-97.4, silicon - 0.8-1.0, iron - 1.8-2.2. The upper layer is deposited from nitride or carbonitride of the compounds of titan, silicon and chromium at their ratio(in mass %): the titanium - 87.5-88.9, silicon - 0.7-1.0, chromium - 10.4-11.5. Deposition of coating layers is exercised by three cathodes disposed horizontally in one plane, the first of which is made composed out of the titanium and iron,- the second is made composed out of the titanium and chromium and is disposed - oppositely to the first one, and the third is manufactured from the alloy of the titanium and silicon and is- disposed between them. The presented method allows to increase the working capacity of the cutting tool due to the increased microhardness and -wear resistance of the deposited coating.

EFFECT: the invention allows to increase the working capacity of the cutting tools due to the increased microhardness and wear resistance of the deposited coatings.
