FIELD: nuclear power engineering; cermet fuel elements for water-cooled reactors.
SUBSTANCE: proposed cermet fuel element of water-moderated water-cooled reactor has zirconium can and fuel core assembled of cermet composition rods. Uranium dioxide particles are distributed in matrix made of zirconium-niobium alloy and silumin contact sublayer between rods and can, 80-100 μm thick. Porosity of fuel particles is (10-13)%B, where B is desired burnup, g/cm3: niobium concentration is found from equation C% mass = 0.15 Vf-8, where Vf% is volume fraction of nuclear fuel. End surface roughness of rod Ra ranges between 1/6 and 6.3 μm.
EFFECT: reduced stress within fuel element can and enhanced geometric stability of fuel cell.
