FIELD: methods for inputting text into electronic devices by means of a keyboard.
SUBSTANCE: in accordance to the invention, each key of a keyboard represents a set of symbols. A symbol is selected among the set of symbols by several presses of the key, corresponding to that symbol. Also, an additional fuzzy symbol is assigned to each key, which represents any one of the set of symbols. Multiple series of non-fuzzy symbols, corresponding to a series of fuzzy symbols, are generated and compared to dictionary. Those possible series of symbols are selected, which coincide with some series of symbols in dictionary. One of selected series of symbols is inputted into the device.
EFFECT: ensured capacity for usage of predicting text input without necessity of switching to a different input mode in case of absence of a word in dictionary of the device.
