FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed field smoothing material is designed for use in high-voltage applications to prevent heavy voltage fluctuations or for smoothing electric field at power cable splice or at its sealing box. Material properties can be improved with relatively low filler concentration which also facilitates its treatment and improves mechanical properties of field smoothing material at high electrical breakdown strength. This is attained due to use of filler particles measuring 2 to 100 nm in quantity effective for field smoothing. Device incorporating proposed field smoothing material and method for electric field smoothing at splice or at power cable sealing box are given in invention specification.
EFFECT: improved characteristics of field smoothing material composed of polymeric matrix and filler in the form of particles.
