FIELD: computing networks.
SUBSTANCE: in accordance to the invention, to find adjacent units within a particular piconet, first unit determines a list of all units within its piconet and then transmits a message to each unit within the piconet, which message requires a response. Depending on which unit receives the response, first unit formulates a list, containing these units, which are adjacent in relation to first unit. For adjacent units within other piconets to "find" first unit, first unit also scans its surroundings, to determine identifications of piconets for other piconets, and then performs broadcasting transmission of "detection-related" message, having identification of piconet for adjacent piconet. Analogically, first unit scans its surroundings, to determine detection-related messages, transmitted by other units, in such a way determining adjacent units outside its piconet.
EFFECT: increased efficiency.
