SUBSTANCE: water-shutoff composition, which can be used for selective shutoff of water inflows into wells, including those operated under conditions of high-permeability, fissured, and fissured-cavernous reservoirs, contains 100 wt parts ethanol or orthosilicic acid methyl ester, or mixture thereof, 1-5 wt parts IV-VIII group metal chlorides, and 1-10 wt parts aerosil. Composition is characterized by having controllable viscosity and gelation time allowing its employment within a wide temperature range, manifesting high cementing power in high-permeability reservoirs, being stable during long-time storage and appropriate to be prepared under plant conditions.
