FIELD: machine engineering, possibly lapping spherical surfaces of bodies of revolution such as ball plugs of large-size pipeline fitting with openings and recesses in sphere.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of rotating annular lapping tool and worked part; forcing lapping tool to worked spherical surface while setting forcing effort by means of regulator having actuating electromagnetic unit having magnetic circuit with winding and armature. It is possible to automatically control electric current fed to said winding depending upon surface area of lapping tool and worked surface interaction and to provide stable specific pressure of lapping tool on worked surface.
EFFECT: improved accuracy and efficiency of lapping spherical parts with openings and recesses.
