FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement technology and it is designed for measuring volume flow rate of fuel in powerful internal combustion engines in process of operation. Proposed method contains counting of number of fillings of metering hydraulic cylinder with piston with fuel from fuel tank and emptying of fuel into intake manifold of internal combustion engine, emptying of one part of hydraulic cylinder simultaneously with filling of other part with fuel is provided owing to gauge pressure built by fuel pump of internal combustion engine, and first and second parts of hydraulic cylinder are connected to fuel pump and to intake manifold of internal combustion engine and vice versa by distributor changed over from one position of the other when piston in hydraulic cylinder reaches one of its extreme positions. Moreover, draining of fuel remnants into fuel tank from intake manifold of internal combustion engine is done through measuring reservoir, number of fillings of measuring reservoir with fuel is counted and when determining total flow rate of fuel, amount of fuel drained into fuel tank is subtracted from amount received by counting of amount of fuel at emptying of measuring hydraulic cylinder. In proposed device for measuring volume flow rate of fuel in internal combustion engine containing measuring reservoir with three branch pipes (unions) and fuel meter in reservoir connected by first union with fuel tank of internal combustion engine through two-way electromagnetic valve, second union of measuring reservoir is connected with outlet branch pipe of intake manifold of internal combustion engine, and third union of measuring reservoir communicates with atmosphere. In proposed system for measuring volume flow rate of fuel in internal combustion engine, flow rate meter in straight pipeline is made in form of measuring hydraulic cylinder with piston and piston extreme positions indicators and with piston position sensor inside hydraulic cylinder, and flow rate meter in return pipeline is made in form of measuring reservoir with fuel filling and emptying indicators. Invention contains description of design of measuring reservoir and hydraulic cylinder, fuel distributor and sensor of piston position inside hydraulic cylinder.
EFFECT: improved reliability and simplified design of volume flow rate meter at provision of high accuracy of measurement of accumulating and current flow rates of fuel in service and at testing of internal combustion engine.
