FIELD: fire-fighting, particularly fire-extinguishing compositions adapted to prevent methane-air mixes ignition and explosion.
SUBSTANCE: gas composition comprises carbon dioxide and inhibitor, namely carbon tetrachloride. Composition components are mixed in the following optimal proportion (% by volume): 10-15 of CCl4 and 85-90 of CO2. Carbon tetrachloride content in space to be protected is 1-3 % by volume.
EFFECT: incombustibility and non-toxicity, increased efficiency of methane-air mix ignition and explosion in the case of slow methane in leakage or avalanche-like methane inflow.
