FIELD: mining.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preventing ignition and explosion of a methane-dust-air mixture and an inhibitor gas mixture for implementing the method. Method involves automatic control of methane content by sensors in the area of a potential source of initiation. If the content of methane in the air is more than 1 vol.%, the inhibitor gas mixture is introduced directly into the zone of the potential source of initiation during operation of the coal miner. Inhibitor mixture is a gas composition containing trifluoromethane and carbon dioxide. Gas composition is introduced many times until concentration of methane in zone of potential source of initiation decreases to values less than 1 vol.%, in concentrations of 3–5 vol.% and 4–15 vol.% of the protected volume, respectively.
EFFECT: simplification of method for prevention of ignition and explosion of gas-dust-air mixture in coal mines and open coal mines while maintaining high efficiency of preventing fire and explosion both in mines and open mines.
