FIELD: metallurgy, non-ferrous.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to non-ferrous metallurgy, particularly to treatment of bars out of chromium bronze used mainly in machine building as electrodes for contact welding apparatus. Bar work pieces are fabricated by first cutting them out of an ingot of semi continuous cast, then heating them under pressure and heat pressing them through a matrix with a channel. Thermo deformative treatment includes tempering of treated bar work pieces in water, drawing them to dimensions of finished bars and aging. Tempering is performed directly after bar work pieces coming out of the matrix channel, at that heat, received by work pieces metal while heated for pressing and in the process of press forming, is utilised.
EFFECT: upgraded hardness of a side surface of chromium bronze bars.
