FIELD: transport, physics.

SUBSTANCE: active compensator incorporates a discharge electrode connected to the high-voltage source pole, an electrode-collector connected to the aircraft airframe and to another pole of the said high-voltage source, a dielectric shim arranged between the discharge electrode and electrode-collector. The said dielectric shim extending part represents a cone. The active compensator is made up of interconnected, both electrically and mechanically, modules, every module being furnished with the electrode-collector enveloping the said dielectric shim while the discharge electrode is arranged inside the dielectric shim of its axle. The discharge electrode located at the maximum distance from the airframe is shifted relative to the electrode-collector downstream. The number of modules is subject to the active compensator length, its location on the airframe and discharge potential.

EFFECT: higher safety in flight ensured by reducing risks of thunderbolt shocks and its effects on onboard avionics.
