FIELD: technological processes; chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of treatment of water system that contains or contacts deposits of metal sulfides includes addition of synergistic mixture, which contains salt of tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium ("ТНР+"), water solution of strong acid, and source of nitrogen, which includes gaseous ammonia or water solution of ammonia, methylamine or ethylamine, and amino phosphonate, for preparation of solution that contains from 0.1% to 30% by mass of "ТНР+" salt at pH of approximately below 1.0. After contacting dissolved deposits are removed from the system. Composition for water system treatment contains synergistic mixture and one or more additional products for treatment of water, which are selected from surface active agents, moistening agents, biocides, dispersants, demulsifiers, defoaming agents, dissolvents, inhibitors of deposits creation, inhibitors of corrosion, inhibitors of gas-hydrates creation, inhibitors of pyrobitumen creation, inhibitors of naphthenates creation, oxygen absorbers and flocculants.
EFFECT: provides inhibition; reduction; dissolution or dispersion of metal sulfides deposits.
