FIELD: mining; physics.

SUBSTANCE: method includes measurement of dimensions of particles of investigated rock sample. At that additionally a shape of particles is determined as well as orientation of anisomeric particles of the investigated sample and lithologic types of rock and their thickness. For this purpose measurement of dimensions of particles of the sample is performed at least on one plane of rough surface of the sample in various determined directions; at ratios of dimensions of particles for various directions projections of their shapes and orientation on the selected plane are established; at that preliminary recording of profilograms of reference rough surfaces of various types of rock is performed with known dimensions of particles with receiving standard deviations; then recording of profilograms of rough surfaces of investigated sample of rock is carried out with receiving standard deviations. At that recording of profilograms of the surface of the investigated sample is carried on continuously at its movement in two self perpendicular directions; after that values of reference deviations of rough surface of investigated sample in various specified directions are compared with the reference deviations of standard rough surface; the dimensions of particles are determined; particles with identical dimensions are summed; their per cent contents in rock is evaluated; and the lithologic type of rock is determined on these contents. Further lengths of records of each lithologic type of rock on the profilogram are determined and summed, and the thickness of a given type of rock in the investigated sample is obtained.

EFFECT: reduction of work content; upgraded level of credibility and accuracy of measurements; reduction of duration of investigations and increased volume of information.
