FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and a method for automated determination of core characteristics. When implementing the method, sets of initial data on the core are obtained by scanning the surface of the core with optical and hyperspectral cameras. Analysis of data from the obtained sets of initial data on the core includes recognition of the features of the composition of rocks based on the combined analysis of the results of scanning the surface of the core with the optical and hyperspectral cameras with subsequent identification of lithological types of rocks present in the core and areas of their distribution based on the recognized features of the composition of rocks.
EFFECT: high reliability of determining characteristics of rocks present in the analysed core.
