SUBSTANCE: system consists of storage device and distributed applications, which, in turn, are subdivided into applications that supply information, the ones that request information, and converter unit. Distributed applications interoperate with the converter unit in order to convert the request in the form of a document, containing a form, written in universal mark-up language and designed for data storage device, into access request, which uses access protocol to access a data storage device and related to a reference to its location in the universal markup language document, which sends the request. The access request to the data storage device is activated upon a standard request to data storage device, and the converter unit gets the answer back to the data storage device, to the corresponding location in the requested document.
EFFECT: provision of access to data storage device without necessity to know fixed relations between accessing application and storage device.
