FIELD: mechanics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a sealing gasket intended for transforming a standard mechanical joint into a locked mechanical joint without varying the external member outline, internal member or joint packing or auxiliary fittings and accessories. The pipe section internal part-to-external pipe section part joint is held in place by exceeding the locking forces of those of friction between the sealing gasket and the pipe. The sealing gasket to be fitted in the pipe external part is arranged so that to form a space or chute at rest to be squeezed in the gasket compression to influence the turning motion of locking segment. The sealing gasket shape influences the locking and the degree of turning during the packing-to-pipe external member jointing process. The invention describes also the method of assembly of the said joint and the field of its application.
