SUBSTANCE: invention deals with high-density optical disk such as the High-Density Digital Versatile Disk (HD-DVD) or the Brue-ray disk containing initial area, data storage area and destination area as well as method of the high-density optical disk data recording and reproduction. The high-density optical disk contains initial area, data storage area and destination area. Basic information is stored in the initial area. The minimum length of label or basic information interval as recorded into the initial area exceeds that of label or data interval recorded into the data storage area. The initial area basic information is copied into the destination area.
EFFECT: correct readout and acknowledgement of basic information recorded on high-density optical disk by optical disk drive; minimisation of mutual interference of the label and the high-density recording data interval as well as negative effect due to dust and scratches on the disk surface; efficient prevention of faulty data recording and reproduction operations.
