SYSTEM OF RE-FUELLING AND STORAGE OF OXYGEN ONBOARD SPACE CRAFT Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC B64G1/46 B64G6/00

Abstract RU 2347724 C2

FIELD: transport, space engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of space aircrafts crews life-support, in particular, to those for working outside spacecraft (WOS). The system contains the following units, i.e. gas receiving unit representing a portable re-fuelling oxygen unit, an oxygen preliminary drying unit with a pressure difference valve, a deep oxygen drying unit and a compression unit. There are also control devices, pressure control valves, pipelines, oxygen pressure and humidity pickups, and also onboard oxygen cylinders with pressure pickup, reducer and feed valves. The system is supplied with the switching electric valve built in the pipeline, connecting the portable re-fuelling oxygen unit with of onboard oxygen system. Additionally, between the aforesaid electric valve and the said onboard oxygen system, fitted are the oxygen preliminary drying unit with the outlet humidity pickup and the electric valve discharging oxygen into spacecraft cabin. The said electric valve is mounted ahead of the oxygen deep drying unit. In front of the compressor, behind the preliminary drying unit, as well as at the compressor outs, pressure control valves are fitted. The portable re-fuelling oxygen unit is furnished with tight inlet and outlet quick-to-release joints. The check valve and manual feed valves are fitted between the inlet joint and re-fuelling cylinder. The system has the improved performances, combining in itself the functions of re-fuelling and storage of oxygen received from onboard electrolysis units.

EFFECT: lower costs of providing WOS with oxygen cylinders, higher reliability, safety and profitability.
