FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to the method of making glass threads, coated with thermoplastic lubricant. Streamlets of molten glass, flowing through an opening, are drawn out at the base of one or several draw holes, in form of one or several layers of continuous fibres. The fibres are then joined into a single or several threads, which are collected on one or several moving carriers. This method is based on depositing a first composition on glass fibres, containing a binding substance, and subsequent depositing of a second composition, containing a molten hot-melt polymer, finally, when joining fibres into thread(s).
EFFECT: prevention of premature or unnecessary reactions between components of the lubricant, and the need for drying.
