SUBSTANCE: according to invention mixture of water and oil is transported via supplying or transport pipeline to separator with tubular body in form of reservoir for gravitational separation. Separated components - oil and water - are withdrawn from the separator separately through outlet pipelines. Also mixture of oil and water upstream from the separator is subject to effect of shear flow forces which create tangential stresses in the mixture; so that drops in the mixture are broken to so small sizes, that this transforms the surface of oil and water. This is performed in such way that the said surface is not contaminated with surface active substances. To achieve this upstream from the separator there is installed a valve in the transport pipeline; the said valve has sharp edges and facilitates a required pressure drop.
EFFECT: upgraded efficiency of fluid medium separation.
